Docudrama Film “Lady of the Desert”

” Women killed by grief are more numerous than men killed in war. “
The docu-fiction film “Lady of the Desert,” directed by Atefeh Farhangikia, is a humanistic and social story about the life of an Afghan woman who, amid the hardships of migration, identity struggles, hidden pain, and hope for continuing life, searches for her own path. With a documentary and poetic perspective, this work aims to be the voice of women who have remained on the margins yet silently carry the heavy burden of life on their shoulders. “Lady of the Desert” focuses on everyday life, cultural challenges, loneliness, discrimination, and female resilience, presenting an honest image of a woman who chooses perseverance between past and future, homeland and exile. The film is an effort to see humanity beyond borders and stereotypes, a narrative of pain, dignity, and hope.  
This project was produced in 2017 and was filmed across Tehran, Karaj, and Qazvin, capturing different social and cultural spaces that added depth and authenticity to the narrative. It was screened on internationally recognized platforms, attracting the attention of global audiences and creating a wider connection with viewers beyond borders. The executive production and production management of this project were carried out by Rayka Agency, which played an important role in the development and presentation of the film.
