The docudrama film It Is Raining is a feature-length cinematic project written and directed by Atefeh Farhangikia. This film explores the life and legacy of Mohammad Otarodian, one of the most influential Iranian
figures in the field of civil engineering and national development.
In this docudrama film, the story goes beyond a simple biography. It Is Raining presents a layered narrative that examines Otarodian’s impact on infrastructure, culture, art, and economic growth in Iran, as well as his influence
on an international level. Through a combination of interviews, archival materials, and reconstructed scenes, the film creates a compelling and immersive storytelling experience. The production of the docudrama film It Is Raining began in 2020 and took nearly two years to complete, including filming and editing. During this time, the filmmakers conducted interviews with many well-known individuals who had collaborated with Mohammad Otarodian over the years.
These perspectives add depth and authenticity to the narrative, offering a multi-dimensional view of his life and achievements.
Mohammad Otarodian, a graduate of the University of Tehran’s Faculty of Engineering in 1959, is widely recognized as a key figure in Iran’s civil engineering sector. He founded his first company, Toofan, in 1964, which later
evolved into Mohammad Otarodian and Partners General Partnership Company. Over the decades, his company has been responsible for constructing nearly 4,000 kilometers of roads across Iran and has achieved top national rankings in
several major engineering sectors. Beyond engineering, Otarodian has also played a significant role in supporting cultural, artistic, and economic initiatives. His contributions reflect a broader vision that connects development with
social and cultural progress. His continued involvement with the University of Tehran and related foundations highlights his commitment to education and future generations.The docudrama film It Is Raining is not only
